Be contemporary. Have impact. Strive for it. Be of the world. Move it. Be bold, don’t hold back. Then the moment you think you’ve been bold, be bolder. We are all alive today, ever so briefly here now, not then, not ago, not in some dreamworld of a hypothetical future. Whatever you do, you must make it contemporary. Make it matter now. You must give us a new path to tread, even if it carries the footfalls of old soles. You must not be immune to the weird urgency of today.

Wonderful weekend. Imagine to start a hot Sauvies Island with all the river folk. In no rush to get back, Kelsey and I had a late dinner thinking we would try Apex and enjoy a couple cold ones on their picnic table filled patio. Unfortunately, they don’t serve food, so we headed to Ava Gene’s, but not before I captured those cool industrial building shots.

The twinkling, floating lights, marble counter tops, and divine homemade pasta of the restaurant were a splendid conclusion to the evening. Besides watching Kristen Wiig get her hosting gig on.

Sunday my family sans brother hiked Falls Creek Falls. The Drive was worth the lush scenery. My parents had gone without me once before, so the moment I saw the waterfall I was in awe. This is why the Pacific Northwest is a treasure. Then I just got excited and started doing yoga poses on boulders. We passed a wood plant on the way home and I had to take advantage of all the stacked logs. Mountains of wood from the forests all around us, and I couldn’t help but capture it.

The day ended with a bbq with my mom’s family. Surrounded with all my moms was the greatest gift of all. Saucy to my mother, every day I spend with her, and here’s to many more.

It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.
